Onto-Express Demonstration

If you want to see what Onto-Express can do for you, but do not have the data ready at the moment, you can download our sample data and run an analysis using that file. You will be able to load, analyze, view and explore the data just as you will be able to with your own data. To get started with the demonstration, follow these few steps.

Hint!! Click here to open another browser window where you can log into Onto-Express and follow along with these instructions. If you do not have a free subscription to Onto-Express Version 1 yet, you will be prompted to sign up for one.

  1. Download the Sample Data:
Click on this link with your right mouse button. Use the "Save Target As" or "Save Link As.." option to save the file to your hard drive.
Right click here to save a local copy of our sample data.
Remember where you save it because you will need this file for step three.

  2. Login to Onto-Express:
Use the "Log into Onto-Express V1" link found on the Onto-Express home page. When you have logged in, you will see the Onto-Express page for uploading your data (Click on picture to see full-size version).
Click here to see full size

  3. Load the Sample Data into the input form. Click the "Browse" button next to the field labeled "Attach your file:" and locate the sample file that you downloaded in step 1. Select that file so that you see the path in this field.

  4. Select the type of data you are loading:
The sample file is arranged by accession so you must select the 'By Accession' radio button in the next section of the form.

  5. Select the type of analysis you wish to do:
Use the checkboxes in this section to select what information you want back about the sample data.

  6. Submit the form:
Click on the "Submit" button to begin your analysis.

After you submit the form, your data is being analyzed and the results will be returned to you shortly. Depending on the number of genes in the upload file, the analysis can take anywhere from thirty seconds to several minutes. The sample data file contains roughly three hundred genes and should return the analysis in under a minute (Click on image to see full-size version).
